  • Approximately 11,400 sq ft. building includes:
    • 3 Apparatus Bays (This fire station will house a Ladder Truck)
    • Living Quarters
    • Offices
    • Workshop
  • Covered Parking
  • Solar Components: Panels, Battery, EV Charging Capabilities
  • Off-site improvements include road widening, a new traffic signal, and bike lanes

Current Project Status

  • The design of Fire Station 102 is complete.
  • Project construction bidding was initiated on November 7
  • Construction contract awarded to Cailba, Inc. during the January 9, 2025, City Council Meeting
  • Groundbreaking Event - April 10, 2025
  • Construction Start - April 2025

Construction Photos (As of Jun 4, 2025)

Project Location

The project site is located approximately 1,800 feet north of the intersection of Gerald Ford Drive and Frank Sinatra Drive.

    Hi CVCaliNative,

Thank you for your message and for sharing your thoughts about pedestrian connectivity in the area.

Sidewalks and other pathways along roads such as Cook Street and Gerald Ford Drive are typically constructed as development occurs, with the private property owners responsible for installing the adjacent infrastructure. Building sidewalks before development takes place can often result in them being removed or rendered unusable once construction begins.

That said, the City continues to evaluate opportunities to enhance pedestrian access and connectivity as the area grows. We appreciate your interest in helping make Palm Desert a more walkable community.

    Best,
    City of Palm Desert
