Freedom Park has long been one of Palm Desert’s most loved community spaces—a place where families gather, kids play, and neighbors connect. To ensure the park continues to meet the needs of our growing and evolving community, the City of Palm Desert is beginning the design process for a series of upgrades and renovations.

This effort is about more than just improvements—it’s about creating a space that reflects what freedom and community mean to Palm Desert today. We want to hear from you about what makes this park special and how it can better serve your family, your friends, and your neighborhood in the years ahead. Your feedback will directly shape how the park feels and what it offers.

What We’re Exploring

The City’s early improvement ideas include:

  • Enhancing the overall Freedom Park theme
  • Lighting upgrades for safety and evening enjoyment
  • A new fence or barrier between the playground and the parking lot
  • ADA and autism-sensitive playground components to make play accessible for everyone
  • More shade around the playground
  • Repainting and refreshing existing gazebos
  • A small retaining wall near the volleyball court to contain sand
  • Additional seating throughout the park
  • Interior renovations to the restroom and snack bar facilities

How You Can Get Involved

We want your ideas and experiences to guide the future of Freedom Park. Please share your input in two easy ways:

  1. Take the online survey to tell us what improvements matter most to you. Click here to take the survey.
  2. Join us in person for a community workshop on Saturday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to noon at the playground gazebo in Freedom Park.

Your input will help us design a park that truly belongs to everyone. Please use the QR codes to provide feedback or RSVP to our workshop.
