De Anza Way Corridor Study
Project Overview
The City of Palm Desert is furthering its vision for safer streets. As part of the De Anza Way Corridor Project, the City is collaborating with the residential community around this important road. The project limits run along De Anza Way from San Carlos Avenue to where Ramona Avenue terminates at Deep Canyon Road. The purpose of the De Anza Way Corridor Project is to maintain this residential corridor’s connectivity to Highway 111 and the nearby El Paseo while considering traffic calming, safety enhancements, and minimizing cut-through traffic. Currently, minor intersecting streets along the corridor operate under stop control, requiring motorists to come to a full stop and yield to traffic on De Anza Way, which is primarily uncontrolled, with vehicles sometimes traveling at high speeds. The Study will review De Anza Way’s existing curvature, traffic operations, and surrounding residential neighborhoods to develop safety and circulation improvements.
The work will largely be guided by a quantitative and qualitative process, drawing input from the community through in-person outreach meetings and from key data sources that cover operational and safety characteristics of the corridor. The City invites you to participate in shaping the future of De Anza Way!

Community Meetings & Engagement
The City of Palm Desert will hold two community meetings to get feedback and discuss potential project improvements and locations. The input shared from the community will be used to inform the selection of corridor improvements in the final study:
- Meeting #1: March 16th, 5 PM-6 PM (City Hall – Administrative Conference Room)
- Meeting #2 – To be determined (expected May 2026)
In preparation for the upcoming meetings, please leave your feedback on this interactive map. The interactive map allows you to include comments focused on key categories such as pedestrians, intersections, parking, and safety.
Walk & Roll Project
In early 2024, the City of Palm Desert met with residents in the De Anza Way area to discuss possible sidewalk improvements through the City’s Walk & Roll program. While those conversations involved streets in the neighborhood, Walk & Roll is a separate initiative from the De Anza Way Corridor Study.
Walk & Roll is a citywide effort focused on identifying and filling gaps in sidewalks, bike lanes, and other pedestrian infrastructure to improve connectivity throughout Palm Desert. The De Anza Way Corridor Study is a different project that is evaluating traffic flow and safety along the De Anza Way corridor.
For questions or updates related specifically to the Walk & Roll program, residents are encouraged to contact Lucero Leyva at lleyva@palmdesert.gov. You can also read more about this project on the Active Transportation page on Engage Palm Desert.
