Eldorado Street Rehabilitation Project

The City of Palm Desert is committed to maintaining safe, accessible, and well-maintained roadways for all users. As part of this effort, the City will begin a major street rehabilitation project on Eldorado Drive, from Hovley Lane East to Country Club Drive. This project is designed to enhance roadway conditions, improve bike lanes, and upgrade infrastructure to support smoother and safer travel.
City Council Action – May 22, 2025
On May 22, the Palm Desert City Council awarded the construction contract for the Eldorado Street Rehabilitation Project. Please use the links below to review the agenda and staff report for this project.
The City is currently in the process of executing the agreement and finalizing the construction schedule, with a targeted start date in early July. Once the schedule is confirmed, the City will notify neighborhoods along Eldorado and post the information on this webpage. Updates will continue to be shared on this page as new information becomes available.
Project Overview
This street rehabilitation project involves removing the existing asphalt, blending it with the subgrade material, and repaving with new asphalt. In addition to resurfacing the street, the project will upgrade vehicle detector loops and wiring at traffic signal intersections, repair stormwater infrastructure, install new striping and delineators to enhance cyclist and pedestrian safety, and ensure that curbs and ramps meet current ADA compliance standards.
What to Expect
Residents along Eldorado Drive may experience temporary delays, localized noise, and construction activity during the project. The City is committed to minimizing these inconveniences and appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to enhance this vital roadway.
Recent Community Meeting
On Wednesday, March 26, the City of Palm Desert held a community meeting to gather feedback from residents about the Eldorado project. If you were unable to attend the meeting, please use the link below to view a copy of the presentation.
To ensure transparency and gather input from all affected communities, City staff delivered a consistent presentation at the following residential communities. - April 17, 2025 – The Lakes (Red River Road and El Dorado Drive)
- April 23, 2025 – Indian Ridge (Red River Road and El Dorado Drive)
- May 14, 2025 – Tierra Vista (Appian Way and El Dorado Drive)
This outreach effort reflects the City’s commitment to open communication and collaborative planning with our neighborhoods.
